Tetra Tech has been involved with improving water quality in Suisun Marsh under a variety of State Water Quality Control Board and DWR funded projects. Current land use in Suisun Marsh is managed wetlands. Low dissolved oxygen levels and elevated Hg levels have been attributed in part to land management in the marsh. These efforts have investigated the link between marsh management and low DO and elevated Hg levels in the sloughs; identified potential BMPs to improve water quality; assessed the role of hydrology in managing water quality; assimilated the literature available on meHg production in managed and non-managed wetlands; and identified restoration and BMP opportunities to improve water quality in Suisun Marsh.
