ROAM was sponsored by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Palo Alto, California. Version 1.0 of ROAM was released in October 1993 for Microsoft Windows.
ROAM links all site data to the site map. Site physical
characterization (soil and groundwater) and contaminant source characterization
are all provided here. This integration streamlines the ROAM analyses,
allowing fast review and changes as needed.

ROAM has an on-line physico-chemical database, fuel composition databases, and tar composition databases. The on-line databases cut out the time-consuming chore of locating necessary chemical data.
ROAM has several flow and transport models that evaluate contaminants in soil and groundwater. These calculation engines perform rigorous simulations that assess the technical feasibility of remedial options.
ROAMPlot graphically displays predicted concentrations in soil and
groundwater. For example, ROAMPlot can present results as contour
concentration plots. These plots provide better understanding of the extent of
plume migration.
