EMAGIS is distributed FREE to all clients with our services of compiling and analyzing data, as well as on-site training. A minimum of 40hrs of consulting time is required in order to receive the free EMAGIS license. This 40 hrs can be used for help setting up your data, technical support, or on-site training at our Lafayette, California office.
EMAGIS is a proprietary product, and is available to non-profit organizations and universities in bundles shown below. Tetra Tech is a business partner with MapInfo, and can also provide the component software if you do not already own MapInfo Professional, Surfer for Windows, or Vertical Mapper. The following is a list of frequently-asked questions about EMAGIS:
1. Is EMAGIS a proprietary product?
Yes, EMAGIS is exclusively owned by Tetra Tech.
2. Does Tetra Tech license EMAGIS?
Yes, Tetra Tech licenses EMAGIS along with its services of data compilation, analysis, and training. Tetra Tech gives copies of EMAGIS to clients for whom it has conducted work, under contract, using EMAGIS.
EMAGIS requires MapInfo Professional to run. Tetra Tech is an authorized partner with MapInfo Corporation and Northwood Technologies, and can provide its clients with MapInfo products and maintenance contracts. Tetra Tech's subsidiary HSI Geotrans is an authorized reseller of Golden Software's Surfer for Windows, which is an optional component of EMAGIS for contouring data.
3. Who provides maintenance and support of EMAGIS?
Tetra Tech can provide software maintenance and technical support of EMAGIS and MapInfo. MapInfo maintenance (software upgrades) is currently $395/license per year. EMAGIS maintenance is free to registered licensees and is available for download over the Internet. Technical support is provided at an economical prorated per hour cost, beyond the free 30-days of support.
4. Can EMAGIS be run over a network?
Yes. When multiple users are involved, a centralized database on a server is recommended to store the data and the files from individual analyses can be stored locally on workstations. All components of EMAGIS also can be run over a network; it is up to the network administrator to only allow the number of users according to the license you have purchased.
5. Can EMAGIS be used with any data?
Yes. The EMAGIS license distributed to allow for the software to be used on any data, not just data from a selected project or site.
